“Damsels in Distress” examines the archetype of the female fantasy from storybook lore. The images reflect on the personification of the helpless maiden at once both graceful and desired above all else, yet helpless and submissive in her plight. Women are depicted in this paradox of strength and weakness through stylized surroundings and colors. The body of work, consequently, addresses female emotions and desires while questioning classical standards of beauty and womanhood.
